Naxos and Santorini both sit on the main Cyclades ferry network. Journey times vary a lot by ferry type and route — from a few hours on fast catamarans to considerably longer on conventional ferries, depending on season and operator.
Because Santorini tends to reward a short, focused stay more than a long one, a common pattern is a longer Naxos base with two or three nights added on just for the caldera.

Naxos is the more practical choice with kids or heavy luggage. It's flatter and more spread out, while Santorini's hillside towns mean stairs and steep paths almost everywhere you go.
Nothing on Naxos replaces the Santorini caldera. If that view is what pulled you toward Greece in the first place, budget a focused stay there and book a good viewpoint well ahead.
